How the city uses the Open City Manager
Wolfsburg faced a challenge many municipalities know well: their playgrounds, tree populations and sports halls were managed in a decentralised way, with many Excel lists and partly on paper. Transparency, data quality and effective collaboration between departments were often left behind.
Together with awesome it GmbH, the Open City Manager was conceived and built. Today, staff record geo-objects via GPS on site and document inspections on mobile devices without media breaks. All relevant information is centrally available and forms the basis for decisions based on reliable data.
With the release on openCode.de, the Open City Manager becomes available as an open source project for other municipalities as well. This way, not only Wolfsburg but also other cities and communities benefit from a digitally sovereign, transparent solution that can be developed further together.
The result: noticeably less coordination effort, more transparency and an administration that is sustainably and future-proof set up.
